Dear Teresa,

I recently returned from a writing residency at the Vermont Studio Center, where I wrote like crazy in a fall, bountiful in the colors of change, into winter’s first snow that dressed the encircling mountains in white. At VSC, I felt alive, far from the news of the world, surrounded by talented artists and writers. It was restorative and renewed my belief in the power of the creative gesture, the courage to strike out for the other side, the importance of language and art to affirm life’s beauty, explore its mysteries, and wrestle with its grief and vagaries.

Lakeshore Writer Workshop is a gift in my life, working with people who use words with intention, to edify, elate, and express. I’m honored to be witness to your courage and creativity, and by the trust you place in me. I’m looking forward to writing with you again in the new year. My 8-week workshop series resume In January (See Below) with an 8-week manuscript workshop (Wednesday PM), and an 8-week generative writing workshop for women (Thursday AM). I’ve had requests for another generative workshop for Wednesday afternoons, let me know if this interests you.) The workshops are $395, with a $100 deposit to hold a spot. I will have spots for developmental editing consults open in January. Master Classes and on-day workshops, and on-line classes coming soon. Stay tuned!

This Thanksgiving, like so many, I felt the burden of the actions of a broken government and the ugliness of language filling the airwaves, social media, the news. I left for the holiday wearing an air mask from a sky smoky with failed policy. But now the rains are here, the fires to bed, for now. I am thankful for the ability to escape into nature,  books and poems,  to hone my worries into essays, to vent sentences into my journal and write forward to what is next, what is possible. Writing is great therapy, so keep that pen moving! Choose poetry over news.

I look forward to hearing from you about your writing, your favorite reads, and adventures, and look forward to writing together in 2019!

With gratitude,
Teresa
