Lakeshore Writers Workshop
Since 2004, I have led workshops and classes to support aspiring writers to find their voice, strengthen their writing practice, and complete works in progress. In my workshops, I create a nurturing and instructive environment so students can cultivate their skills, build a foundation for their work in supportive place, and write in community with other serious writers. Students receive precise positive feedback, directed always to the strength and unique quality of their own voice.
Workshops, master classes, and developmental editing services are offered to motivate, inspire, and support writers of all genres and skill levels. An AWA Affiliate, I combine my training and experience with the teachings of Pat Schneider and others.
I lost my writing studio during the pandemic and went to Zoom. During the pandemic writers across the country and abroad joined my workshops so I’ve remained virtual. I do offer in person events and have taught in libraries, community learning centers, The Mendocino Botanical Gardens, Hedgebrook, and other venues. CLICK For future in-person events
Revision
In the Revision Workshop, you’ll share works in progress in a circle of supportive writers focused on constructive review and discussion of craft (stories, memoir, novels, essays).
Generative
In Generative workshops respond to prompts and produce new work or dive deeper into ongoing projects. We focus on the craft of writing, and explore ways to strengthen writing practice, to take risks, or simply to defeat those momentary phases of writer’s block.
One-on-One
In one-on-one sessions, I offer in-depth developmental editing services with a goal of discovering where the writing is most alive and identifying opportunities to go deeper and to realize the writing’s greatest potential. Receive constructive feedback on your current work, as well as guidance and support for your writing goals.
Teresa is a writing workshop leader who is sensitive, supportive and knows how to bring out the best in all participants. In addition to her great leadership in the workshops, her feedback on my manuscript was thoughtful and helped me pinpoint areas I could improve on in addition to identifying the many things I was doing right. She doesn’t impose any writing style on you, she helps you find your own voice and make your work the best it can be.
– Natylie B.
Teresa understands what it takes to write with courage. She helps writers in all stages of development celebrate their unique voices. I’ve found her feedback to be extremely supportive and uplifting. She’s helped me grow comfortable even with my messy drafts, and to stay focused on steering toward the vision.

Generative Workshop I
(8-weeks)
We’ll talk about our writing practice, write in response to prompts, and set goals for moving forward.
More info
The Generative writing workshops run for eight weeks. In each meeting we write in response to prompts and then read work aloud (optional) and receive precise positive responses to the work. All work is treated as fiction, regardless of genre, to ensure a professional barrier is maintained between the artist and her work. In this kind of workshop, where the writing is fresh and unedited, the discussion is focused on what is working and why things work from a craft perspective. Many people use this time to further develop works in progress, work through writer’s block, or simply to write in a community of serious writers. In addition, each new participant is entitled to a free one-on one coaching/developmental editing session.
My workshops are designed to motivate and inspire writers. I have a range of participants in my groups, from newer writers to published authors. All are welcome and we follow specific guidelines to maintain a safe, supportive, and productive experience for everyone. I keep my groups small to ensure plenty of time for writing, reading and discussion. That said, I am very strict about keeping conversation and discussion focused on writing and the writing process. I want your time to be productive and have you leave feeling flush with new ideas, new material, and energy for your own work.
